Ing. Osler Ortez Amador
Osler Antonio Ortez Amador, Class of 2014 and currently a doctoral student at the University of Nebraska, is the winner of the national award for excellence presented by the American Society of Agronomy (ASA). This recognition is granted to that scientist who contributes outstandingly to agronomy through education, service and research.
Osler, originally from Nicaragua, studied Agronomy at ZAMORANO, where he had the opportunity to participate in an internship in soil fertility at Kansas State University. In 2015, he became an assistant researcher in the area of crop production at the same university. By 2016, he had initiated a master’s program studying the limitations of nitrogen in the production of soybeans. Right after that, he began his doctoral studies at the University of Nebraska investigating yield losses in corn.
During his masters’ studies, he published two essays in scientific magazines and prepared other public materials, locally and internationally. For three years now, Osler has been an active member of important agriculture associations.
